Stephen Eastaugh’s WINTEROVER
5 March 2026, 10:00–12:00 h.
at Black Hall, MATDOT Art Center
MATDOT Art Center invites you to a special film screening followed by a talk with Australian artist Stephen Eastaugh, one of our resident artists.
This event brings together documentary film, conversation, and first-hand experiences from an artist whose life and practice are shaped by travel and creative work in some of the world’s most extreme environments. Over the past decades, he has travelled to more than 100 countries, drawing inspiration from landscapes, mobility, and human encounters to inform his artistic process through mixed media, moving image, and long-term field research.
The film documents the 11 months he spent living at a research station in Antarctica, capturing stories of winter missions, snowstorms, aurora lights, and daily life in a highly challenging environment. It also reveals the behind-the-scenes process of creating art in one of the most remote places on Earth.
Join us for the screening and conversation to explore the intersections of travel, art, and the meaning of creative practice in places that few people ever reach.
