Santi Thongsuk

Santi Thongsuk was born in 1969 in Ubon Ratchathani and graduated from Silapakorn University in 1994. The same year, he won the first ASEAN Art Awards in Singapore for the painting ‘Breath in the Capital City’. Santi Thongsuk is quite versatile in his art.  He often focuses on people and human bodies – at times as victims. He sees ordinary people as victims or losers in monetary terms and political terms, cheated by politicians and others in the seats of power. Santi is a devout Buddhist who wants to show the beauty and power of human beings. In his last exhibition, he focused on the bodies, minds and power of humans to show that humans belong to the animal kingdom, and yet are distinctly different from all other living creatures.  He has exhibited several times in Thailand and has also participated in an exhibition in Great Britain (1994), Singapore (2001), and was represented at the Christie’s auction in Bangkok (2000) – “Important Thai Paintings”.
